Dozens of sailors are buried here. None are Vineyarders; the men hail from various parts of the globe and happened to die while in Vineyard ports and waters. Headstones are rude. Donated in 2007 to the Land Bank and the MV Historical Society by the Boston Seaman’s Friends Society. Property is within the Wapatequa Woods Reservation.

Take Holmes Hole road off of State Road in VH. Go past Upland drive and two houses on left. Take next dirt road that says “Road to Wapatequa” When you reach end, there’s a small sign that says “Sailors’ Burying Ground Road.” Take left to get to cemetery. It’s a ways down on your left.
