Steeped in Ohio’s transportation history, the nearby Licking River drew American Indians to the area, which later played a role in the age of canals. In 1803, Moses Dillon, the park’s namesake who was renowned for building the world-famous Y-bridge in Zanesville, bought the land bordering the river, where the park is now located. Water still draws visitors as the large lake offers unlimited horsepower boating, a marina, and several boat ramps. Other activities include camping, fishing, mountain biking, stargazing, sledding, and an ADA-compliant playground.
