El Cariso Park stands as a memorial to the young men who lost their lives in the Loop Fire on November 1, 1966. Today, this beautiful 80-acre park is a focal point for the surrounding communities, providing amenities from picnic areas, play areas, fitness zone and tennis courts to a beautiful community swimming pool. The new 15,000 square foot gymnasium and community center, dedicated in October of 2011, is a highlight of the park with its beautiful mission style design, civic art, large gymnasium with two electronic scoreboards, classrooms and community rooms, full kitchen, restrooms, and staff offices.
