From 1908 to 1953 the Vineyard Ice Company operated an ice-harvesting business in this freshwater pond, complete with gantries, conveyor belts and storehouses. Today, this kettle pond and its surrounding woodlands are quiet and scenic. This property lacks a beach; it is more suited to experienced swimmers who wish to exercise.

From the upper end of Lambert’s Cove Road, go 0.6 miles and turn right into the trailhead. For those 70 years and older who wish to park closer: Continue to Manaquayak Road, go .5 miles, and turn right onto Wintergreen Lane. Trailhead will be on the left at the bottom of the hill. Parking and access is limited.
