On the northern side of Lake Hennessey, Moore Creek Park encompasses 1,592 acres: 642 acres of canyon with perennial Moore Creek, and 950 acres of Oak Woodland next to Lake Hennessey. Parking is available in the gravel lot off Chiles Pope Valley Road and is marked with signs. Moore Creek Park is part of the Bay Area Ridge trail.
Dogs are not allowed on trails in the Moore Creek Unit.
Hikers, mountain bikers, equestrians, and nature lovers will find trails of varying difficulty following the lakeshore through the grassy hillsides of eastern Napa County and along Moore Creek showcasing the woodlands, grasslands and chaparral. Oaks, Madrones and Douglas Firs grow throughout the park. The park is home to wildlife including black bear, mountain lion, bobcat, gray fox, and coyote. Bald Eagles have been sighted at Lake Hennessey along with Golden Eagles, hawks, Osprey, Great Blue Herons, White Egrets, woodpeckers and loons.
