Rev Ernest D Butler Park (9.2 acres) is located at 812 W 9th St. at the intersection of West Ninth and North Fairview Streets.

Parking Areas: Limited spaces along Ninth street, or in small paved parking lots near the playground off N. Fairview street or off W Ninth near the community gardens. Bike racks are available near the parking lot.

Play Fields: large open green space,  ball field, basketball court.

Also: Paved trails, restrooms, community garden, fitness equipment, playground, and (2) accessible shelter houses with picnic tables.

The Butler Park Playground will be closed starting in February 2021 for renovations.

Amenities and Accessibility in Butler Park

Accessibility: Playground is accessible.

Parking: One small parking lot off Ninth Street, and one small parking lot off Fairview Street. On-street parking is also available.

Restrooms: Located along Ninth Street. Restrooms are accessible, and are open seasonally (April through October) and when there is a special event at Butler Park.

Drinking water: Drinking fountains are located near the restrooms, available seasonally (April through October)

Picnic Shelters: There are two small picnic shelters at Butler Park. Neither shelter is reservable. See a list of reservable shelters in Bloomington's city parks.

Baseball/softball field: Butler Park ballfield is available for rent seven days a week. The field has a 200' fence, is unlighted, and rents for $10/hour. For reservation information, call 812-349-3774. Reservations must be made in person at the Parks and Recreation office inside City Hall at 401 N. Morton St., Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Basketball courts: Basketball court with two goals along Ninth Street

Ninth Street Loop Trail: This looping trail borders the open spaces of Rev. Ernest D. Butler Park. A portion of the trail doubles as a sidewalk (4/10 mile). Fitness stations are located just off the trail, near the restroom building.

B-Line Trail: The 3.1-mile B-Line Trail intersects with Fairview Street just north of 10th Street.
