A 1.5 mile hike to a grouping of magestic sandstone outcroppings with great views westward to Castro Peak, Ladyface Mountain and beyond. Along the way is a mixed hiking experience of a grass meadow, dense oak canopy and a series of five climbing switchbacks through elderberry, California peony, black and abundant purple sage, giant wild rye, buckwheat, ceanothus and many native wildflower varieties that show from March through June. Dudleya and yucca dot the rocky open sections.
The trail ends at the wider Calabasas Peak Motorway, where you can continue on to the peak (total 2.2 miles one way) for unmatched views of the Cold Creek Preserve and Saddle Peak to the south and the Fritz and Alma Meier Nature Preserve to the east. Continue south on Calabasas Peak Motorway to trails leading to Stunt Ranch, Saddle Peak, the Backbone trail and Red Rock Canyon Park.
