Turlock Lake State Recreation Area Temporarily Closed. Closure in effect Friday, May 14, 2021
California State Parks today announced the temporary full closure of Turlock Lake State Recreation Area (SRA), effective tomorrow, May 14 at 5 p.m. The closure will remain in effect as State Parks and the Turlock Irrigation District work through the process of securing a new operator for the park. The public is advised to adhere to all closure notices to maintain safety and lessen the burden on emergency services in the area.
Nested in the rolling foothills of eastern Stanislaus County, Turlock Lake State Recreation Area offers a variety of recreational opportunities such as camping, picnicking, boating, fishing and swimming. Since 2012, this public outdoor space has been managed by American Land Leisure. Turlock Irrigation District took over the operations in November 2020 and indicated that it would be ceasing interim day use operations on May 14, 2021.
Affected reservation holders will be contacted by ReserveCalifornia via email and provided with a refund. Reservation cancellations and refunds will be automatic. As such, visitors do not need to take any action. State Parks appreciates the patience of the public as it moves through this process. If needed, reservation holders can call ReserveCalifornia’s Customer Service line at (800) 444-7275. Hours of operation: 7 days a week, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. PST.
State Parks understands the impact that the temporary closure may have on the public. As such, it is actively working with the Turlock Irrigation District on exploring additional partnerships to facilitate operations at Turlock Lake State Recreation Area. Updates will be published on the park web page at www.parks.ca.gov/TurlockLake.
During the closure, State Parks encourages visitors to explore nearby state parks with similar outdoor recreational opportunities, such as Caswell Memorial State Park, George J. Hatfield State Recreation Area and McConnell State Recreation Area.
