Come enjoy this beautifully remote, scenic, and historic stretch of the East Walker River.  The Elbow offers two primitive style campgrounds, Bighorn Campground and Two Trees Campground, with 16 first come first served campsites, picnic tables, fire rings, and restroom vault toilets nearby (no water fixtures).  Come relax and listen to the river, watch for wildlife, try your hand at fishing, or get out on nearby roads and explore remnant reminders of the gone by days of old gold rush mining towns.

The state park, Walker River State Recreation Area, includes five units: the Pitchfork Ranch, Rafter 7 Ranch, Flying M Ranch, Nine Mile Ranch, and The Elbow. Currently only designated area at The Pitchfork Ranch, The Elbow, and the east side of the river at Rafter 7 are open to the public for a wide variety of recreational use.  Walker River State Recreation Area offers opportunities for people to enjoy camping, cabin rentals, visitor center, hiking, mountain biking, fishing, hunting, kayaking, disc golf (soon to open), bird watching, horseback riding.

The Pitchfork Ranch serves as the park headquarters and offers 2 campgrounds and a Visitors Center. The Elbow section of Walker River State Recreation Area is open for camping and exploration. The east side of Rafter 7 is open for day use visitation only.  Other park units are planned to become open to the public over time as development and infrastructure is completed. Announcements will be made as phased development is completed.

Please contact the Park at (775) 463-1609 for more information, maps, rules, and fees.

Pitchfork camping and cabin reservations can be made at www.reservenevada.com. The Elbow remains first come first served for camping and day use access.  Entry fees apply.
