Preserving history for future generations. Wassama Roundhouse State Historic Park preserves a traditional meeting place for the Southern Sierra Miwok people. The Roundhouse is a place of spiritual and ceremonial significance to many native people.
The main features of the park are the Roundhouse and grinding rocks. The current Roundhouse, reconstructed in 1985, is used for traditional dances by the Southern Sierra Miwok and Chukchansi Yokuts. Bring a picnic, explore the grounds and learn about the native people from this area. There is also a seasonal creek running through the park.
