We are WILD about wildflowers—how about you? Join MetroParks as a volunteer-scientist to identify as many species of wildflowers as we can during this community science program.
A BioBlitz is an event that focuses on finding and identifying as many species as possible in a given time, in a specific area (National Geographic). With our focus on native wildflowers for this BioBlitz, let's see how many species there are at Rentschler Forest MetroPark!
To prepare for this program, please download ahead of time the free iNaturalist app from the Google Play or App Store. To learn more about iNaturalist, visit https://www.inaturalist.org/. For anyone who may not have access to a smartphone, plant guides will be available to assist with plant identification.
We will be utilizing parts and/or whole trails, including the Cascades, Tall Pines, and Pumpkin Vine Trails at Rentschler Forest MetroPark’s Reigart Road Area. These unpaved trails include inclines, declines, and a suspension bridge.
Registration is required by 5/12/23, and space is limited. Due to the scientific nature of this program, it is open to ages 10 years & up. Participants under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
