Under the Pavilion, be captivated by cultural performances featuring the Spokane Poet Laureate, Mery Smith, Spokane Youth Symphony String Quartet, and winners of The Spokesman-Review’s poetry contest. Experience the diversity of our city with captivating acts from the Filipino American Northwest Association Dance Troupe, Indian Youth Club of Spokane, Native Voices, Spokane Chinese Association, and more. Plus, enjoy performances from the original fair, including a reprise of the Mormon Expo '74 Choir and Spokane Children's Theatre.
The ceremony kicks off at 6:00 p.m. with the Pillar Procession, featuring representatives from pillar groups and voices from Expo '74's past, present, and future to officially open the nine weeks of celebration.The festivities will continue with the Kalimba Band, celebrating the spirit of Earth, Wind, and Fire, and culminate with a breathtaking Drone Show displaying images celebrating the region and the legacy of Expo.
