- Visitor Center to Texas Dip — 12.6 miles
- Follow Palm Canyon Drive to Christmas Circle and proceed south on Borrego Springs Road to the Texas Dip.
- Texas Dip
- San Felipe Wash — largest wash in the park, drains into the Salton Sea. Drive to Highway 78, turn west (right), and proceed 4 miles to the Narrow Earth Trail on the left.
- Narrows Earth Trail (Trail Guide Provided) — 1/4 mile walk
- See granite rocks and active faults — follow the signs to see the wonders of the Narrows. Watch for bighorn sheep! Continue on Highway 78 for 1.8 miles to Mine Wash on the left.
- Mine Wash — Drive 1.6 miles on sandy road to the village
- This is an ancient Native American winter village site with over 200 mortars. Return to Highway 78 and turn left onto the highway.
- Please note: The Mine Wash Road requires 4-wheel-drive vehicles!
- Drive 2.7 miles — Turn right off of Highway 78 onto Yaqui Pass Road (S3) to Tamarisk Grove Campground.
- Park on the side of the highway to use the bathroom facilities available at Tamarisk Grove Campground. If you park inside, or use the picnic area, the day use fee applies. Enjoy two short hikes to Cactus Loop Trail and Yaqui Well Trail across the road (trail guides provided).
- Continue driving 1.8 miles to Bill Kenyon Overlook on the right.
- Park in the pullout at right or at the Yaqui Pass Primitive Campground up ahead. Enjoy a short hike to the overlook (1-mile roundtrip from pullout, 2 miles round trip from primitive camp). Watch for bighorn sheep!
- Return to Visitor Center
- Continue onto Borrego Springs Road. Turn left and return to the visitor center.
