2024 Lake Loop: If participating in the Sunday October 6, 2024 Lake Loop, be sure to register in advance HERE.
Enjoy a 2.5-mile round trip paddle on the flat waters at the southern end of Lake Hoaptcong. The trip begins at the Hopatcong State Park and heads north past Point Pleasant, crosses King Cove to Bertrand Island, the site of the former Bertrand Island Amusement Park. Your paddle continues around King Cove, named after Theodore F. King, the late 19th century real estate tycoon, merchant, and developer who founded the "Hopatcong Steamboat Company", known as the 'White Line'. After passing through King Cove your journey returns south as you pass beautiful lakefront homes in the Silver Springs section of Roxbury and the former site of "Mountain Ice House", the largest ice warehouse on Lake Hopatcong in the late 19th century.
Be sure to tap the "+" symbol in the App to check-in as you reach each Stop shown along the paddle route. Include a photo and some comments when checking-in, if you'd like.
Launch Point: Use the public boat launch at Hopatcong State Park. This is a fee area for part of the year (typically from Memorial Day to Labor Day, so check the website for details)
