This cozy, rustic cabin has two small rooms - a combined bedroom and living room and a kitchen. The combined living room and bedroom is furnished with a double futon and two sets of bunk beds. The kitchen is furnished with a table and chairs, and equipped with a propane appliances (cook stove, refrigerator and oven), as well as utensils for cooking and eating. The cabin has a propane fireplace for heating and propane lights. A vault toilet and garage are located near the cabin. Water is available from an outside hand pump, and there is a fire ring and picnic table for outdoor dining. Cell phone coverage is limited in the area.
The cabin is popular during the winter months with cross-country skiers and snowmobilers as designated groomed snowmobile routes are in the vicinity. Other activities include hiking, mountain biking down forest roads, fishing, and riding OHVs.
The Guard Station, a historical site constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), is located adjacent to the scenic North Fork Burnt River and is only a couple of miles from the historic Whitney area.
