The Griffy Lake boathouse is OPEN everyday from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Watercraft rental reservations may be made by phone at 812-349-3732, or by email to griffy.boathouse@bloomington.in.gov.
Walk-up rentals are also accepted, provided there are fewer than 22 watercraft on the lake at the time.
The Griffy Lake boathouse has canoe, kayak, and standup paddleboard rentals available beginning on in April through October. To request a watercraft reservation outside of the boathouse's hours of operation, send an email to griffy.boathouse@bloomington.in.gov.
In your email, please provide:
- Your name
- A telephone number where you can be reached
- The type of watercraft you would like (canoe, kayak, or stand-up paddleboard)
- The day, date, and time you would like to rent watercraft
- The number of watercraft you would like
- The amount of time you would like to rent the watercraft (1 or 2 hours; max is 2 hours)
- Indicate if you will be accompanied by a youth age 14 years or younger
All watercraft rent for $10 per hour.
Plan to arrive at least five minutes before your scheduled rental time. Watercraft, paddles, and life jackets are provided. The use of face coverings is encouraged while checking in. You can pay for your boat rental when you arrive with cash, check, or a credit/debit card.
Rented watercraft returned to the boathouse after closing are subject to a minimum $20 late fee. A minimum $50 replacement fee is charged for lost, stolen, or damaged rental items.

- November-March: Closed
Private boat launch for trailers located in parking lot. Accessible kayak and canoe launch located near Boathouse. Pay daily launch fee ($10) or purchase Annual Launch Permit during business hours.
