This long sloping lawn bordered by boxwood creates a picturesque setting for the historic Aull home. It features lilac, magnolia, quince shrubs along the border and established locust, Kentucky coffee tree and hickory in the lawn.
If you go to the edge of the lawn you can see the entire property and the pathways you took to get here as well as Wiles Creek and the Pool.
Marie once wrote, "I often think how little my husband and I had to do with the making of Aullwood. The glaciers that covered this part of Ohio formed the typography, creating contours of hills and valleys from the underlying limestone, carving the beds of the two little streams that meander through our woodland. As the glaciers slowly retreated, the forests returned. Today there are over 70 varieties of native trees on the land with oak, maple, beech, tulip, poplar, ash, sycamore and Kentucky coffee trees dominating and understory of dogwood and redbud."
