This sunny space bursts to life after the early Aullwood spring blooms finish.
The expansive lawn is dotted with many varieties of Lilac shrubs and other flowering trees. Peak display of Lilacs occurs around Mother’s Day.
"Sometimes you have good years (in the garden) and sometimes you have poor years. That's part of it," Marie said. "I was saying what a beautiful spring we'd had to someone and they said, 'How can you say that? We didn't have any forsythia, the lilacs were frozen, the roses had a terrible time.' I replied, 'But think how perfectly beautiful the wildflowers were. They were exceptionally beautiful.' "
