Oak Shores Day Use Area is managed by the Bureau of Reclamation and offers free day use for beach activities, swimming, shoreline fishing and wildlife viewing on the western shore of Lake Berryessa. Located onsite are accessible drinking water, parking, picnic shelters, beach access, an emergency phone, and flush toilets. Pets are allowed. The larger of the two, day-use areas, Smittle Creek being located just to the north, Oak Shores is a safe, clean location for families or individuals to access the lake for a variety of uses. Bald Eagles fly over the site regularly and water birds are frequent visitors. There are small islands off shore that are accessible by strong swimmers or by raft and there are roped in swimming areas for children. Water shoes are a necessity as sharp clam shells litter the lake shore. The water holds close to 75 degrees for comfortable swimming.
