The hen house was used for storing chickens and their roosts. Each day the family would have to collect the eggs.
Today, the hen house and chicken run is home to more than chickens. We raise heritage breeds of Plymouth Bard-rock Chickens and Blue Slate Turkeys. All of the animals at Carriage Hill would be classified as heritage breeds. Due to modern processes and needs some of these breeds can no longer be found. These breeds help portray an accurate portrayal of 19th century animals.
