In 1830, Henry Harshbarger, Catharine Arnold’s father, bought 158 acres of land, part of which is now Carriage Hill Farm. He moved into the log house, which beside the log barn, was one of the only buildings built on the site by the original owners, the Miller Family. During the winter, he built a saw mill on Dry Run. This saw mill was the first one in Wayne Township and remained in use for 44 years.
