Skamania Lodge, a magnificent resort nestled on 175 wooded acres, is located in the spectacular Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area. The lodge is located just 45 miles east of Portland, Oregon, on the Washington side of the Columbia River. "Skamania" is the Chinook Indian word for "swift water.” The lodge has three nature trails on the property, ranging from 1 to 1 3/4 miles in length. View mountains, beautiful forests and two small lakes. In the summer, Forest Service Rangers provide programs at the lodge. Learn more at the lodge's website: www.skamania.com.
For many years, the Lodge hosted a Forest Service Information Center. As of 2020, the information center is no longer operational at the lodge. The closest Forest Service information center to the west is at the Multnomah Falls Lodge and to the east is in our administrative headquarters at 902 Wasco Ave, Suite 200, Hood, River, OR 97031. We recommend you also visit the Columbia Gorge Discovery Center, which serves as the official interpretive center for the Columbia River Gorge, located in The Dalles.
