This extensive new parking lot provides access to the most popular hiking trail in the Matanuska-Susitna Borough. The 874' Bodenburg Butte is a 1.5 mile steep hike from the West Butte Parking with stunning views of the Matanuska and Knik River Valleys.
The trail starts with a moderate gravel path, then steepens through eight switchbacks and many sets of stairs to the igneous rock summit.
