The park started planting cosmos here in 2014 because the low lying areas would hold water, which made it hard to mow. So, our horticulture department incorporated the “Grow Don’t Mow” motto for this spot. Two or three times a year they till the soil and hand through the seed onto the ground, and we get to enjoy fields of orange, yellow, magenta, pink, and white cosmos.
