The natuary is a chapel built in 1958-59 as part of the Camp Hook Boy Scout area. It is dedicated in memory of Rev. Edward R. Hammon (1904-1958) for his contributions to the religious life of the boys in the Mound Builders Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
It is now an area park visitors enjoy quiet contemplation.
