This young, successional woodland features a collection of native woodland wildflowers and non-native species that can grow well with natives in a residential shade garden. During spring, the wildflowers are at their peak. At the west end of the garden is a connection to the red trail and Conservation Corner.
In late March and early April many wildflowers start appearing. A few to keep an eye out for throughout the garden are:
- Lenten Rose (Helleborus orientalis)
- Trout Lily (Erythronium alba and Erythronium americanum )
- Snow Drop (Galanthus var.)
Others, like Bloodroot, Celandine Poppy (blooms in late April-May), Maidenhair fern, May apple (blooms in May), Violet Freckles (April), and American Cranberry Bush (flowers in may, red berries later in summer, fall leaf color) are tagged in their approximate location.
