Lake Berryessa, managed by the Bureau of Reclamation is a man-made lake covering nearly 20,000 acres. The Lake provides electricity and drinking water to Solano County and is open for most recreational activities including boating, water skiing, kayaking, paddle boarding, swimming, fishing, hiking, biking, and equestrian trails. There are multiple day use facilities and recreation areas managed by concessionaires under contract with the Bureau. The recreation areas hosts camping for both tents and RV’s, boat launches, picnic areas, some convenience stores, boat kayak, paddleboard, and jet ski rentals and are located on the shores of the lake. The day use areas provide lake access for swimming, shaded picnic areas — including BBQs, and hiking trails along the lake edge. The Lake sits on the eastern border of Napa County and is easily accessed by Yolo, Solano and Napa Counties.
Berryessa Vista Wilderness Park is a 224-acre park accessible only by boat from Lake Berryessa. No potable water or other services are provided. There are numerous dirt tracks leading from the edge of the lake up into and through the park. Sweeping views of Lake Berryessa and the surrounding countryside can be had from various locations. The terrain is generally steep and the vegetation is a diverse mixture of Oaks Woodland, Gray Pine Forest, and Chaparral. The closest boat launch is Capell Cove.
