Owned by the wealthy coal operator, C.K. Davis, Lake Alma was built and used as an amusement park from 1903-1910 with operating rides, dance pavilion, merry-go-round, and more. The amusement park sat on the island that this trail encircles. Nothing remains of those days except beautiful lake views. Visitors can access the loop trail from State Route 349 at the Dam of Lake Alma. A 120-foot pedestrian foot bridge spans from the highway to the island for access.
