The trail departs from a large pullout off the Glenn Highway just before crossing Kings River after mile 66. From the pullout off the Glenn Hwy, the 1st mile of the Kings River trail travels along an easy-going road, passing by several campsites and cabins before reaching Young’s Creek. After Young’s Creek, the trail becomes increasingly rocky and muddy. Approximately 2.5 miles in from the highway, the road ends and splits into two trails, Young’s Creek to the left, and Kings River to the right.
From here the muddy and challenging Kings River Trail continues to the NE until it links with the Permanente Trail, although extreme caution should be taken around hazardous river crossings, many of which should not be attempted except at low water levels.
