The ranch was originally built in the 1920s as a retreat for pioneering automotive engineer Harry Miller. Following Miller's bankruptcy, new owners ran Lake Enchanto amusement park here until 1955. Disneyland opened, and the property fell into disrepair until purchased and restored by actor Peter Strauss in the late 1970s. He later sold the land to preserve the site's natural and cultural history. Peter Strauss Ranch Loop Trail is a unique experience, passing through oak woodland habitat, while intersecting with historic structures from the early and mid-twentieth century.
