The Schabarum Extension trail is a short trail which provides access to the Schabarum - Skyline Trail's eastern edge. This segment of the Schabarum-Skyline Trail’s eastern end begins in the lower section of in Peter F. Schabarum Regional Park. From here the trail climbs up the ridgeline giving panoramic views of the area. After passing the water tower on the western end, the trail begins to descend to Hacienda Road, which it follows to the open space at Draper Road. The trail climbs up again through oak woodland and continues westward though open utility corridor to the underpass at Colima Road.

Staging is available at Peter F. Schabarum Regional Park located off Colima Road in Rowland Heights. This segment can also be accessed from Hacienda Road and Colima Road. These access points do not include parking. Street parking is available on surrounding streets.
