Trail 4 is primarily a woodland trail that circles the north side of Mt. Pisgah through oaks, maples and assorted second growth conifer stands. It starts in the north at a junction with North Trail 3 and climbs around the north side of Electric Hill. Where it passes under the BPA power lines it becomes a steep BPA service road for about 900 ft., after which the BPA road becomes Trail 14 North and Trail 4 turns off the road and climbs gently to skirt the HBRA property corner.
Continuing eastward, Trail 4 passes its junction with Trail 14 South and continues through deep fir and maple forest canopy, passing a junction with Trail 24, until it crosses under the second BPA power line and Trail 46. The trail then drops through a mixed oak and conifer forest until it joins Trail 2.
