The trail begins on the Big Rock Motorway Trail and heads southwest down the ridge of the mountains. The route is more narrow than the adjacent fire roads and becomes an even narrower single-track as you follow it to the end. From the trail, there are great views of the adjacent green canyons, over to Saddle Peak, and Santa Monica Bay in the distance.

From PCH, take Big Rock Drive for 1.3 miles. Take a right to stay on Big Rock Drive, and then a left to continue past the residential neighborhood into the hills. Park anywhere along the road and then follow it north to the trailhead, which will be on the right.
