The multi-use Wasilla Creek Headwaters trail system (also known as the Moose Range Trails) traverses 35 gorgeous miles in the heart of the Mat Su Valley.
The trails are used used for winter skiing, snowmachineing and summer hiking, biking and ATVing. (Although the trails in their current condition are much better for winter use. They can be muddy and rutted.)
The trail system crosses through abundant and sensitive juvenile salmon habitat, and has been the site of habitat remediation projects in recent years. In summer, ATV use has caused some issues with muddy ruts through wet areas.
The trail system can be accessed in multiple places - off Fishhook Road, Wendt Road and the corer of Buffalo Mine Road and Murphy Road.
