Explore this 2-mile out-and-back trail near Lake Hopatcong, New Jersey. Generally considered an easy route, it takes an average of 90 min to complete. This is a very popular area for biking, birding, and hiking, so you'll likely encounter other people while exploring. The best times to visit this trail are March through October. Dogs are welcome, but must be on a leash.
Access to Liffy Island is from (1) The parking area at Prospect Park (Florida Ave just off of Brady Rd) and (2) from the shoulder parking on Prospect Point Rd. Both parking areas provide access via the Lake Hopatcong Trail (LHT) Spur. The Prospect Park (Florida Ave) access route is longer than that from Prospect Point Rd, but the trail surface is wider and stroller-friendly. While shorter (only 0.8 mile out-and-back), the LHT Spur from Prospect Point Rd has an ungroomed trail surface that is much rockier (not stroller-friendly). Access to the main LHT (heading toward Mt Inlet and Bear Pond) is also available from Prospect Point Rd
