Hopatcong Borough, nestled between the foothills of the Sparta Mountains and the western shore of Lake Hopatcong, has long worked to maintain a balance between preserving its natural and historic places while developing its landscape in order to further the enjoyment of those sites. The Borough of Hopatcong contains nearly 800 acres of permanently protected open space, parks and recreation areas. This includes state land and municipal land, making up approximately 10% of the Borough’s 7,953 acres (12 square miles).
