This section of the Highlands Trail heads western toward Byram Township (via the Mansfield Bike Path) from the Lake Hopatcong Trail (Leo Ave spur) junction. This trail segment is managed by the NY-NJ Trail Conference.

The Highlands Trail is 168 miles long, 122 miles of which is in New Jersey. The southern 96 miles of the Highlands Trail is co-aligned with the NJ State Long Trail (NJSLT)
